Sustainable Tourism Commitment
The New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment aims to see every New Zealand tourism business committed to sustainability by 2025 – our Vision is Leading the World in Sustainable Tourism.
To deliver on this, we must achieve ambitious economic goals, while sharing the overwhelming benefits with supportive host communities, contributing to restoring, protecting and enhancing our natural environment, and continuing to be a high-quality destination of choice for domestic and international travelers. We are proud to be an official member.
Kea Conservation Trust
We’re proud to support the KEA Conservation Trust, by offering our guests the opportunity to donate toward this cause.
The Kea is our native alpine parrot, in fact, the only alpine parrot in the world – there are only a few thousand left, putting them at risk of extinction. The Kea Trust aims to preserve and protect these unique birds, which are regarded as one of New Zealand’s taongas (treasures).
Named by the Maori for the sound of its call, the Kea is endemic to the Southern Alps of New Zealand. These sociable and highly intelligent birds are well adapted to their harsh environment. Unfortunately, the traits that kea developed for survival, their curiosity and omnivorous appetite, have created conflict with humans over the last 150 years. Persecution and predation have sorely depleted numbers and, with only a few thousand birds remaining, the Kea is a nationally Endangered species.
Qualmark
INFLITE is proudly Tourism New Zealand Qualmark Gold, placing us in an elite group of NZ tourism operators.
A Gold Award recognises the best sustainable tourism businesses, with the delivery of exceptional customer experiences, and identifies those businesses leading the way in making the New Zealand tourism industry a world-class sustainable visitor destination.
NZ’s Only Nationwide CarboNZero Aviation Operator
INFLITE are proud to be certified carboNZero by Toitu – Envirocare.
“As an operator, we’re also deeply concerned about climate change and so we chose to commit to being carboNZero certified. Our businesses take guests into spectacular parts of our country, often inaccessible without the use of aircraft – so it’s our responsibility to minimise our impact as much as possible to ensure that our sensitive environments are protected for future generations to come.” Adam Joyce, INFLITE CEO
As part of the process, we had to measure emissions across all our locations nationwide and put in place mitigation strategies to reduce and offset emissions. The first step was acknowledging that flights and experiences have a considerable impact on carbon emission through the use of aviation fuels.
